CCA News- 16-28 May

#Issue35 #Eid #Midterms #Mchanganyiko Clubs

Eid Mubarak to all our CCA community. As we reflect on the end of Ramadhan, let us remember the discipline and courage we used to end Ramadhan successfully. These principles are applicable in our everyday lives; and more so as we approach the midterm exams. On May 20th at school, classes taking midterm exams that Years 1-4 will do exam review in the form of a game The Olympiad. Students will answer questions based on their notes and topics covered in school. Remember this is a game designed for students to work together and review material. Below you will find the exam schedule for May 24-27.

We understand that circumstances can cause late arrivals, however, a regular occurrence of late arrivals gives those students no time to settle before starting their day.

Please note that school starts at 8:30. We have morning assembly/announcements between 8:30-8:40. By 8:45 students need to be with their class as the first learning block is 8:45-9:30. Arriving at 8:45-9:00 disrupts classes that are already in session. Further teachers tend to wait for late arrivals before getting into the main lesson. Although, exams are scheduled to start at 9:00; the arrival time still remains the same at 8:30.

Mid-term Exam schedule:

Monday 24 May- Math 9:00-10:00; Geography 11:00-12:00

Tuesday 25 May- Science 9:00-10:00; Language Arts/Handwriting 11:00-12:00

Wednesday 26 May – Kiswahili 9:00-10:00; PHSE 11:00-12:00

Thursday 27 May – Gym 9:00-10:00; Science Practical (Year 3/4 students present a science experiment).

It's Hard to Be Five: Learning How to Work My Control Panel: Curtis, Jamie Lee, Cornell, Laura: 9780060080952: Amazon.com: Books

Last week our student Teo showed a phenomenal shift in maturity both developmentally and academically. Teo took time out of his lunch break and came to the front office and started counting up to 200. After counting to 200 he was immediately congratulated and given an ‘Outstanding’ certificate. Afterwards Teo had a conversation with Mr. Max where he sough advice for what it means and looks like to be a 5 year old in school. Teo has an upcoming birthday and we found that his inquiry was telling of the insight he is gaining in his young years. By the end of the conversation we read a book to Teo called “It’s Hard to Be Five” by Jamie Lee Curtis & Laura Cornell. Before going outside to finish his lunch break, Teo stated that he was going to keep doing better each day when he returns for our Eid break.
