Issue#22 #Backtoschool #September7
Welcome back to school from a long hiatus. We are more than happy to welcome students, staff, and parents back from a school year cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We must continue to be vigilant and practice those good hygiene measures. Regularly in the morning when students arrive we will assist each student to a handwashing station before starting our morning announcements. We have prepared individual pouches for students that have a personal hand cloth. This cloth is to be used to dry hands and is washed at the end of each school day. We have hand sanitizer available at school. Our staff always remind students and ask whether they have washed their hands with soap after requests for bathroom breaks outside of break and lunch times. Furthermore, we will obtain a thermometer to check temperatures upon arrival at school.
Crown City Academy encourages and promotes neighborly behavior as per our mission and expectations of a CCA Student and Staff. Therefore, in honor of Good Neighbor Day on Monday, September 28; we have implemented a point system based on participation in school community activities. Each week during the school year we will pick 1-2 students that have shown good neighbor characteristics. The following categories are where students can earn points: 1)Volunteering to be a helper (i.e. picking up toys, shutting off the classroom lights when the class is leaving). 2) Participation in the morning announcements. 3) Participation in PHSE and Gym. 4) Completing and turning in homework that is presentable. 5) CCA Community Kid (students that show kindness, support, and encouraging others). Each day (Monday -Friday) students can gain a maximum of 20 points (100 points maximum by week’s end), displayed with stickers my their names. On Fridays, the ‘Good Neighbor’ of the week will be announced.
Additionally, we are asking that all students bring in a teddy bear or stuffed animal on the first day of school. The stuffed animal should be in good condition and one that can be kept at school for an undetermined period of time. We will use these stuffed animals on occasion for teaching PHSE and reading activities. On Tuesday and Wednesday the 08th and 09th September we will have activities surrounding Teddy Bear day.
Please consult the Student/Parent handbook on our website for additional information regarding grades, homework, celebrating birthdays, and more.
Recently, we have added parents to our Whatsapp groups and Seesaw online classroom. Please check your emails for invites and accept. These applications are vital for our communication. They help us give you insight of our school day. Further, we will post homework and other relevant announcements on Seesaw. We encourage you to read the newsletters and check Seesaw regularly in order to stay abreast.
