CCA NEWS- 19-30 April

Dear CCA Community,

We have started the holy month of Ramadan and the third term. There are some students and staff that are fasting during this month, therefore we will start after-school activities after Eid in mid-May. This last term before summer break, the afterschool activities will take on more of a club feel. Earlier in term 2, a small group of students started plans for a roller skating club. For the most part, they organized themselves with assistance from parents of course, and teachers. Students even prepared a logo for their skate club and look forward to wearing the shirts at their next meet-up. Nevertheless recently they have been skating after school Monday- Thursday for a week now. We have asked that students who are in the skating club first meet at 14:30 and participate in the reading club. At 15:00 students are then dismissed to skate until 15:30. This is a pilot program and some activities will occur outside of school on the weekends. Between now and the end of Ramadan a more robust plan will be in order. So far other students have proposed a cooking club, STREAM, and fitness club where pilates and gymnastics are the main activities.

Some of you may have noticed that there was an educational contract and/or a weekly progress report that was sent home with students. If you did not receive you will receive during the upcoming week. These weekly reports will be a formal method to track students’ progress in upcoming terms. A few subjects are not included this time around, but will be added in a revised version for September 2021.

Something you may have noticed is a lack of art work coming home in term 2 from students. No worries at all, students have been creating different art pieces for an art exhibit. Last Thursday was World Art Day and we asked students to label their artwork by genre so that it can be posted at school. Next time you visit school take a look around to see some of the wonderful things they have prepared under the direction of Ms. Michelle.

We have also decided Coffee with the Director will resume in June after Ramadan and hopefully what will be the tail end of the rainy season. The June Coffee with the Director will be focused on graduation.

Lastly, Friday after school technicians stopped by the school to take measurements for a temporary enclosure around the construction.
